These photos were taken in San Francisco, CA. The five on the left were taken from inside cars (a VW Passat with the glowing dashboard, and , and a Honda CRX with the yellow hood). All were 20 second exposures. In all but the first, the car itself is moving -- so even though the hood and dashboard seem to be stable, with everything in the background moving, the opposite is actually true. The five on the right were taken more traditionally, with the camera stationary on a tripod as cars, buses, and trolley cars left their trails on the still night background of the city. These images were on display at Castro Photo (@ 4115 19th Street) in San Francisco from mid March through the end of April 2003. All are available for purchase from the artist. - Howie Spielman
